My name is Sergio Plucker-Billups, and I am a recipient of the Louella Cable Memorial Scholarship. I would like to express my gratitude, not only for the support of my academic endeavors, but also for the continued support of academics at the University of South Dakota.
Quite frankly, I am moved by the willingness of people such as you to help anonymous students fulfill their educational dreams. Contributions like yours are what make college possible to those that are not as well off as others. The monetary value of your gift can be measured, but the immaterial value cannot. This value comes in your vote of confidence, in your knowledge of the necessity of an educated society and in your character as you set a strong example for young people like me. Your gifts live on in the efforts of those who have benefitted from them.
In my case, you are helping to turn a young man into a doctor; therefore, you are helping my future patients, their families and communities.
I am infinitely grateful to people like you, and I will do my best to honor your commitment to me in any way possible.
